New Year’s – it’s the time of year where we spend get together with the ones we love, make pacts with ourselves and celebrate new beginnings. However, sometimes the idea of finding something to do on New Year’s Eve can be quite daunting! You don’t have to put a lot of thought, effort, time or money to have a good time over New Years. We have some great ideas for a stress-free celebration!
Try your Potluck
Potlucks are a lot of fun – they’re parties in which all the invitees create their own share plate and bring it to the party. You don’t have to do any cooking, and you’re friends don’t either if they don’t want to! All you have to do is assign your guests one of three categories – sweet, savoury or drinks, and they do the rest!
See the Fireworks
If you love being in amongst the action, there are plenty of places around the city that set up for New Year’s Eve, and they have the best view of the fireworks. You can pack a picnic and relax while you watch the beautiful show of lights in the sky!
Watch it on the TV
If you’re like me and you’re not good with large crowds, stay home and watch the fireworks on your TV! Different channels show different city fireworks, and always have great content beforehand to pump you up for the count down!
Have a movie night
Invite your friends/family over and have a movie marathon. The movies can be random, or you can have a theme like horror, comedy or, aptly, New Year’s. You can choose movies you own, rent/buy them on iTunes or borrow those of your friends and family. It’s that easy!
Have a games night
As lame as you think this sounds, games nights can actually be a lot of fun. Whether it’s Pictionary, Charades, Monopoly, Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit or all of the above, you’re bound to have a great night with family and/or friends. A games night is a fun event that requires hardly any planning – and if you don’t have the games one of your friends is bound to!
Whatever you do this New Year’s Eve, we hope you have a safe and happy night!
