Ah, Christmas. It’s my favourite time of year. However, I don’t know about you but when it comes to the gift giving part, I spend quite a lot more money than I’d like to. This year, I’ve started to do a bit of research into money-saving gift ideas, and these are some of the things I’ve found:
DO IT YOURSELF
Before you go picturing tragic home-made gifts, open your mind for just a second. There are actually some really cool gifts you can make quickly and cheaply, some of which are listed below:
- These awesome scrabble coasters
- These easy to make painted vases
- These beautiful smelling citrus and mint scrubs
- These soothing bath bombs
- This delicious strawberry jam
- This delightful spa in a jar
In the same vein as the “spa in a jar”, you can pick up a cheap wicker basket and put together a hamper – all you need is little gifts to fill it, clear cellophane and some ribbon!
Scoopon & Groupon
These websites are fantastic for finding great deals on a wide variety of things – from Yoga sessions to kitchen utensils. Buying gifts on these websites takes no time at all, and you save a heap of money.
These are a quick, easy and potentially low-cost gift that can be made quite personal by choosing according to the person’s taste. For example, if they’re a movie buff, buy them some movie ticket vouchers. If they’re a craft-a-holic buy them a Riot or Lincraft voucher, and if they’re a whiz in the kitchen, buy them a Coles, Matchbox or House voucher. Petrol vouchers are a great gift idea too, especially if you’re buying for someone who’s just got their license and are working hard to cover all the other costs of a car.
We hope you find some great presents for your loved ones this Christmas. Happy gift giving!
